US$600 million in new notes, a US$111.4 million financing package and a BHP funded drill program all landed in the past few days. One of those deals fully funds a gold mine through production, so keep reading to see which.

Scroll on for what actually happened.

Quick Takeaways

Short on time? Here is the week in three lines.

  • Osisko Gold: US$600 million of 9.250% notes closed, funding Cariboo through commercial production in 2029.

  • Atico Mining: US$111.4 million Trafigura package secures La Plata construction funding.

  • Kobrea Exploration: BHP approved and will fund a US$4 million program, including drilling at El Destino.

  • Rockland Resources: C$5.0 million commitment to earn 51% of Evolution Mining's ground, growing Pipestone Bay 5.7x.

The News: Osisko Gold Group (NYSE: OGG, TSXV: OGG) closed US$600 million of 9.250% senior secured notes due 2031, using the net proceeds of about US$578.0 million to repay the Appian facility and fund the Cariboo Gold Project in British Columbia.

Why It Matters: Management says this fully funds Osisko through commercial production in 2029, with C$1,740 million of sources against C$1,525 million of uses.

Outlook: The first interest payment is due April 1, 2027, and attention now turns to construction at Cariboo.

The News: Atico Mining (TSXV: ATY) signed a US$95 million project finance facility and a US$16.4 million convertible debenture with Trafigura to build its La Plata gold and copper project in Ecuador.

Why It Matters: The facility prices at Adjusted Term SOFR plus 7.5%, and the debenture converts at US$0.22, a 40% premium to the 20 day VWAP.

Outlook: Closing is expected on or about October 13, subject to TSXV approval.

The News: Kobrea Exploration (CSE: KBX) said BHP Metals Exploration approved a US$4 million 2026/2027 program in Mendoza Province, Argentina, including diamond drilling at the El Destino copper gold molybdenum porphyry prospect.

Why It Matters: BHP pays for the full program under its exploration alliance, so this season's work does not draw on Kobrea's own cash.

Outlook: Results from the El Destino holes will be the first real test of the target.

The News: Rockland Resources (CSE: RKL) signed a definitive agreement with an Evolution Mining (ASX: EVN) subsidiary to earn up to 70% of the ground around Pipestone Bay in Red Lake, Ontario, starting with a C$5.0 million, three year commitment for 51%.

Why It Matters: The deal grows Rockland's footprint from 608 to about 3,471 hectares and adds a buried magnetic target that has never been drilled.

Outlook: Year one requires C$750,000 of spending, starting with field verification before a first drill program.
